Welcome, friends, to the December update from Breathing Better Living Well!
No matter how grown up we get, I believe that everybody needs a Santa. Maybe not the traditional kind of Santa, the guy in the red suit who sits on the throne in the mall, but at least a Santa Claus of some kind. Whether it’s somebody who is always there for you with a gift on Christmas, another holiday or your birthday, someone who surprises you by coming through when you’re in need, or a trusted friend to cheer you when you’re down. Maybe it’s a friend you’ve found here at BBLW. At any rate… everybody needs a Santa.
As I mentioned last month, I was honored recently to meet professional Santa Claus Cliff Snider. Now, Cliff’s more than a guy in a red suit. He’s a dear, sweet man with an amazing story to tell. In Santa’s Journey “Santa Cliff,” as I call him, shares his life as a professional Santa Claus from a Christian perspective. This is a magical little book filled with inspiring stories and beautiful illustrations. This one is one of the many that appears in his book. Santa Cliff was kind enough to give a special chapter from his book to BBLW. Read Santa’s Book by visiting our stories page.
Need a chuckle? “A COPD Christmas” is a fun little poem guaranteed to make you smile. It’s based on the night before Christmas…with a twist. Feel free to print it out and share with your breathing support group!
Did you know that just expressing thanks has been proven to improve quality of life? Yes, it really has! Even though the official Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone, it doesn’t mean we can’t keep on being thankful each and every day for all the things we have. Join us in a “Season of Thanks and Giving” on our BBLW Community forum and share what you’re thankful for. Four people who post will be chosen at random to each receive a gift. Visit our BBLW Community forum for details!
We’ve had a huge response to the “New Therapies” section on our Basics page. It has video information on some new developments to treat pulmonary disease. Each brief video clearly shows a new method of treatment for pulmonary disease. Not everybody is a candidate for these procedures, but you at least have the right to a discussion with your doc about it. You’ll never know if you don’t ask!
Stay healthy this winter! Here’s how:
How do you know what to get for that special child on your Christmas list? Make it easy by visiting Amazon’s Holiday Toy List. Shop by child’s age and your budget. Do you ever feel like you’re the only one who has struggled to cope with COPD? You’re not alone! My series on the Health Central Network, The New Face of COPD profiles four folks just like you who have been hit with a tough diagnosis and fought back to get the most out of life. Read these interviews by clicking on the Stop Smoking widget at the bottom of our home page. Click on “Jane M. Martin – Stop Smoking” for all my shareposts.
Remember… everybody needs a Santa… at least one. Mine are my new friend, Santa Cliff, my family here at home, and my wonderful family here at BBLW. You’ve given me more than I could have ever imagined, and I thank you! Now…Who’s your Santa?
That’s about all for now, my friends. On behalf of the entire BBLW Team, I would like to thank you for your continuing support of the work we do through this website. Thank you for opening the newsletters, clicking on the links, reading the information throughout the site, and for visiting the heart of our home, the Community Forum.
